The “shield” sculptures, made of Stoneware and Stones are based on the “entradas” or entrances, which I encountered while hiking the Pyrenees’ Mountains in Spain & France in spring 2000. These works are reminiscent of the geometry and peeling stucco of the old Roman and 17th Century “entrada’s” of the homes and villages of the region.

Stones which were collected on the journey were embedded into the clay surface and metamorphosized in the firing process.
