| FOOTHILLS
The “Foothills” represent geologic slices and are reminiscent of the aerial views of the foothills along the coast of the mountainous region near Queenstown, New Zealand. Stones are embedded into the surface of the clay before firing, and as the earth turns to stone in the heat of the kiln, the pebbles bubble and become fissures and crevices, replicating from afar the patterns and relief of the earth’s crust. Slices of life, slices of the earth, coming apart and coming together, rolling with the flow: a metaphor for how to exist with peace within ourselves.
